Cape Wave Check is built by surfers for surfers, and the most useful improvements to the site consistently come from people who actually surf the beaches on it. If you have local knowledge that should be on a beach page, a correction to something that is wrong, a business enquiry, or feedback about how the site is working, we want to hear from you.

Local knowledge and corrections

No forecast model, data API, or written guide can capture everything a local surfer knows about a specific beach. The access description at Misty Cliffs changes depending on recent weather. The rip pattern at Fish Hoek behaves differently at different tide stages. The crowd dynamic at Muizenberg on a school holiday weekend is not what a general beach description conveys. If something on a spot page is wrong — the hazard notes, the parking information, the crowd description, the best tide or swell direction, or anything else — please let us know. Corrections from people who surf these beaches regularly are the single most valuable input the site receives.

When sending a correction, the most useful format is: the name of the beach page, the specific thing that is wrong or missing, and what the correct information should say. That makes it much faster to update the page accurately without introducing new errors.

Reporting a technical issue

If a beach report page is not loading correctly, conditions data is not updating, a verdict is not displaying, or any part of the site is broken, please let us know with the URL of the page you were on and a short description of what you saw. If the issue is device or browser-specific — for example, it only happens on mobile, or in a particular browser — that information is useful too. Technical issues are generally faster to fix when we can reproduce them.

Partnerships and local business enquiries

Cape Wave Check works with surf schools, kite schools, board shapers, beachfront restaurants, accommodation, gear shops, and other local businesses that want to reach surfers and kite surfers planning sessions in their area. The site covers 20 beaches across the Western Cape, each with a dedicated audience of people actively making decisions about where to surf and what to do around it.
